STENGTH
Moving to Noosa when I was 19, to have that reality happen to make it into the series; and now I am heading into my fifth season with a series win under my belt is indescribable. I am currently studying secondary teaching at the University of the Sunshine Coast and hoping to be the best athlete I can be by improving on my skills each season.
5 years old. My dad was a surf champion and Olympian himself so both my sister and I were straight in!
I think it would have Ky Hurst who was my biggest hero. I’m not sure if I got lost in his eyes or just his smooth skill in the big surf but he was just a superstar and so humble. Mick Fanning would have to have been my idol outside of surf for the way he handled the earlier part of his career while I was growing up was nothing short of incredible.
Never given directly but Shannon Eckstein’s advice, whenever he was asked, was work on your weakness because no one does. So for the entirety of my career the leg I have easily work the hardest on his my swim.
That very same advice.
Usually, I’m singing a song in my head, haha.
High: 3 rounds back to back – didn’t ever expect that
Low: Coming out of a “whole” after a few bad rounds during the series. Having to climb out of that mentally and figuring out when it all isn’t flowing together, is pretty tough.
Cracking my knuckles on the start line.
Weetbix for breakfast and mum’s pasta the night before!
