The third round of the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series will be added to the program at Kurrawa on the Gold Coast, extending the action from three to four days to round out the 2022 Series.

From Thursday 3 February through to Sunday 6 February, the final four rounds of the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series will be held on the Gold Coast in what will be the biggest battle for cash and glory yet.

The third round was postponed on Sunday 16 January due to tsunami warnings and subsequent beach closures along the New South Wales coast. Surf Life Saving Australia National Sport Manager Wayne Druery said that after consulting with many stakeholders the extended event at Kurrawa Beach provides the best opportunity for fans and athletes.

“As is the case with Surf Life Saving when you’re dealing with the elements, you can’t always predict what you might be presented with, as was the case last weekend with the tsunami warning that forced us to postpone the third round of the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series.

“Since that time, we’ve been working to make sure we could still deliver six rounds of quality action, to give our elite athletes every opportunity to race,” Druery said.

“Since Sunday we have consulted with athletes, coaches, sponsors and broadcast partners as well as reviewing available dates, it was decided that round three should be held on Thursday February 3, further bolstering all the action at Kurrawa Beach.

“I have no doubt that the four rounds will be a fantastic spectacle for those on the beach and at home watching wherever they are.”

Rounds 3-6 of the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman will take place across Thursday-Sunday from February 3-6, 2022, at Kurrawa Beach and will be broadcast live on the Nine Network in Australia and Sky Sport in New Zealand – see below for details.
