Northcliffe’s Harriet Brown has claimed a convincing win in the opening round of the Nutri-Grain IronWoman Series at North Bondi today.

The 30 year-old missed the last round of the 2021 Series due to injury, and certainly made up for lost time today, holding onto a significant lead for the second half of the 40-minute gruelling M-shaped course.

Brown said that despite some nerves leading into the race, the endurance format is one that suits her.

“I was pretty nervous before the race, but I like the Enduro format, and even though I had a bit of a slower start, I knew there was time to work my way up,” Brown said.

“Having a fair bit of a lead, I had to do it all myself and I just knew that I had to keep the pace on, keep consistent and not make any mistakes,” she said.

Rounding out the podium on day one was defending champion Lana Rogers and Brown’s Northcliffe clubmate Hannah Sculley.

The Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Serie Round Two Wave Cross kicks off on Saturday 15 January at North Bondi, and on Channel 9GO! from 11AM-2PM nationally.
