Reigning Champion Lana Rogers continues her winning form, taking out Round Four of the Nutri-Grain IronWoman Series and extending her overall lead.

Newport’s Jemma Smith started strong leading the first ski leg and winning the Dash for Cash in Round four but it was Rogers who once she took the lead in the EnduroSurf, did not waiver.

Nutri-Grain IronWoman Harriet Brown bounced back to claim second spot while Newport’s Lizzie Welborn rounded out the podium in third place.

Rogers said it was the off season endurance fitness that got her through today’s race.

“I love endurance racing, I was training and preparing a lot for the Coolangatta Gold last year which unfortunately didn’t go ahead,” Rogers said.

“But I was hoping that my endurance was going to shine in those EnduroSurf races and I’ve managed to come away with both those wins (Round 1 and 4),” she said.

Rogers admitted the conditions today suited her, but said that she isn’t going to get complacent, knowing that Brown and Welborn were hot on her heels.

“This Series means a lot to me so I’m just trying to put it together the best I can. I’m just not done, we’ve got 2 big rounds left to go so I’m going to try and make the most of it,” Rogers said.

“I definitely think they’re ones to watch (Brown and Welborn). They have both been so consistent.

“Winning back-to-back Series would mean so much, but I’m not trying to think about that right now.

“It would mean a lot, but the job’s not done yet, we’ve still got 2 rounds to go and now the focus is on recovering as best I can to get ready for tomorrow,” she said.
