Bio
Adam Palmer grew up in Brisbane as mostly a pool swimmer and moved up to Sunshine Coast at the age of 16. He started out as a nipper at the age of 6, travelling to Maroochydore most weekends to take part. Palmer has followed through with surf lifesaving up to today where he makes his second Nutri-Grain Series appearance. Outside of training, Adam works as a casual lifeguard and enjoys playing Fortnite with his mates.
Adam, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?
Starting surf lifesaving at the age of 6 because dad threw me in the ocean every weekend. I have always loved the ocean so I stuck with it ever since.
Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?
Kye Hurst
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
Make sure your worst enemy doesn’t live between your two ears.
Your advice for aspiring Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain athletes?
Never give up on your dreams and not every day will be yours, but it’s how you overcome those days.
What do you think about on the start line?
Not much, probably not to fall out of my ski.
What has been a high and a low in your IronMan journey?
High: Definitely re-qualifying for the Nutri Grain series.
Low: Not having enough confidence last year in the series.
Do you have any race day superstitions?
Like to have a little vomit before my races.
Do you have a secret talent?
Probably dropping a 50 bomb on Fortnite.
