Bio

Hailing from Golden Bay in Perth, WA, Jayde Hardstaff started her IronWoman career at the tender age of 8, when she got tired of watching her sister at Secret Harbour SLSC Nippers and wanted to join in for herself. Finding a love for competition, she moved to the Gold Coast to prove herself against the best. Fast forward to today and Hardstaff is a dedicated primary school teacher, leaving early mornings and late nights aside for intense IronWoman training.

Jayde, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?

8 years old. I used to sit on the beach and watch my sister and I wanted to get involved.

Who was your hero growing up in surf lifesaving?

Alicia Marriot, because she was from Perth as well!

What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?

You can do anything if you dedicate yourself to it.

Your advice for aspiring Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain athletes?

Set goals and stay positive.

Do you have any pets?

No, but I’ve been asking for a dog for 20 years.

Jayde, what has been a high and low in your IronWoman journey?

High: Making my first Nutri-Grain Series race in Victoria (2018).

Low: I’m lucky to say that there has not been too many lows as yet.

What do you think about during a race?

I try to be present and just focus on what is right in front on me at the time.

What do you think about on the start line?

The food I’m going to eat after haha.
