Tanyn Lyndon’s career in surf lifesaving started with him following his sister around Lennox Head beach when he was just 3 years old. He quickly became a nipper and eventually a competitor with a dream to become a Nutri-Grain IronMan. After school Lyndon relocated to the Gold Coast, and ten years ago, found himself standing next to his idol Zane Holmes on an elite series starting line. Outside of competing Lyndon is a full time carpenter and has recently welcomed his first child.

Tanyn, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?

3, when my sister started nippers.

Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?

Zane Holmes and Jacob Lollback. It was incredible to stand next to Zane Holmes on my very first Nutri-Grain Series starting line.

What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?

Life is short so make the most of it!

Your advice for aspiring Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain athletes?

Be sure to secure a career away from the sport.

What do you think about on the start line?

How much fun I’m about to have.

What do you think about during a race?

Don’t know, just be in the moment.

Tanyn, what has been a high and low in your IronMan journey?

High: Getting the opportunity to race alongside people I have idolised for so long!

Low: Battling injuries is always tough.

How do you relax away from competition?

I don’t like relaxing, too many fun activities to be done!
