Bio
After competing in multiple Iron Series, Cooper Williams, comes into the 2024/25 Shaw and Partners Iron Series after a strong showing at the Trial in Tugun. Coming off a brilliant showing at the World Champs where he claimed a 3rd place in the Open Male Swim, Williams is aiming to solidify his place amongst the elite this season. When he’s not training, he works as a carpenter.
Cooper, how old were you when youstarted surf lifesaving and why?
6 years old. I joined because the rest of my family were heavily involved with Peregian SLSC.

What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Iron Athletes?
Be consistent with Swim training.
What do you think about on the starting line?
I think about how to execute a good start and get to the front.
Cooper, what has been a high and low in your IronMan journey?
High: Finishing 6th in a professional Iron Series.
Low: Missing out on a professional Iron Series.
What is your go to meal the night before a race?
A nice steak.

How much pain I’m in.
