Bio
Nathan Jay started Nippers at Wanda SLSC, where he trained and competed for until the U19s, when he won the NSW State U19 Ironman title. Following a brief stint at Cronulla SLSC, Jay moved north to the Gold Coast to join the Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park crew. Growing up he played multiple sports, such as rugby league, union, and Oztag, but chose Iron racing due to the love for the sport.
Nathan, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?
I was 6 years old when I started surf lifesaving. I loved the beach and being active so it was the perfect fit!
Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?
Had a few, Ky Hurst, Nathan Smithy, Mark Simpson.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
“Enjoy what you do.”
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Iron Athletes?
Stay consistent and trust the process. The outcome will come.
