Olivia, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?
I was 5 years old when I started nippers and have carried on through ever since. I started because of my love for the ocean and my parents wanted my to be safe in and around the water.
Who was your hero growing up in surf lifesaving?
Cory Hutchings was a local Midway star who coached me when I was a nipper.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
Think about the process and not the outcome. Enjoy all the little things and have fun. (Jason Pocock – New Zealand Blackfins coach)
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Iron athletes?
Belief in yourself is your greatest strength, back yourself and trust the process, you have done all the work so just rip in and have fun.
What do you think about during a race?
I think about each leg one at a time, staying composed but alert.
Olivia, what has been a high and low in your surf sports journey?
High: Winning my first Iron Series Round last year in Maroubra!
Low: A low would be getting injured in my first two Iron Series and not being able to complete all the rounds.
Do you have any pets?
I have a 1 year old springer spaniel back home named Leo.
Do you have any secret talents?
I can dislocate my pinky toes!
