Bio
Piper Harrison started nippers in U6 at Manly LSC where she fell in love with the sport. As a ten year old her parents took her to the Newcastle Iron Series rounds, so she could watch her idols like Candice Falzon and Naomi Flood, and a few years later Georgia Miller, race. She made the move to Newport SLSC in U19 to help chase her dream of becoming an Ironwoman. Striving for improvement, with a good work ethic at training, Harrison made her professional Iron Series debut last year. A strong showing at this year’s Trial Round, presented by Race One Surf Craft, Piper will again be taking on the field at the 2025/26 Shaw and Partners Iron Series. Outside of surf sports, Harrison is studying a Bachelor of Law and Communications (Journalism) at UTS and works as a learn to swim teacher.
Piper, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?
5 years old. My parents signed me up to nippers.
Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?
Candice Falzon (Warner) & Georgia Miller (Fitz).
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Athletes?
Trust the process. Everyone is on their own journey, just because someone achieves something sooner than you, doesn’t mean you won’t. Work hard and never give up.
What is your favourite type of music?
Bit of a mix. Mainly pop. Love some Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan & Olivia Rodrigo.
Piper, what has been a high and low in your IronWoman journey?
High: Qualifying for my first professional Iron Series in 2023. It will be hard to top that moment when I realised I had finally achieved my lifelong dream.
Low: Getting eliminated in round 1 of the Shaw and Partners Iron Series last year. I felt I had more to give, and I have been working hard to make sure that doesn’t happen this year.
How do you relax away from competition?
Hot girl walks and coffee with friends, baking, and some Netflix.
Do you have a secret talent?
I love to bake! Whether I’m talented at it is open to interpretation.
