Bio
Piper started nippers in U6 at Manly LSC where she fell in love with the sport. She made the move to Newport SLSC in U19 to help chase her dream of becoming an Ironwoman. Striving for improvement, with a good work ethic at training, Harrison made her professional Iron Series debut last year. A strong showing at this year’s Trial Round, presented by Race One Surf Craft, Piper will again be taking on the field at the2024/25 Shaw and Partners Iron Series. Outside of surf sports, Harrison is studying a Bachelor of Law and Communications (Journalism) at UTS and works as a learn to swim teacher.
Piper, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?
I started nippers when I was 5 years old because I grew up near the beach and my parents wanted me to be safe in the water.
Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?
Growing up I idolised Georgia Miller, Candice Falzon (Warner), and Naomi Flood as they were the local girls in the Series.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
Trust the process and work hard. Things won’t happen over night but if you persevere and keep working hard eventually your dreams will come true.
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Athletes?
Everyone is on their own journey. Some people achieve their goals quicker than others but it doesn’t matter how quickly it happens. Keep working hard and never give up. If you want it bad enough, it will happen.
What do you think about on the start line?
Thinking about conditions and what I have to do off the start.
Piper, what has been a high and low in your IronWoman journey?
Just missing out on the series in 2022 was really hard but coming back stronger and qualifying the year after was a massive high!
Do you have any race day superstitions?
I have the same breakfast every time!
Do you have any pets?
A one year old black lab named Bambi – she’s my bestie.
