Bio
Eighteen-year-old Olivia Clues fell in love with surf lifesaving after her dad put her in Nippers in U9’s at her home beach of North Curl Curl. She made her Shaw and Partners Iron Series debut in 2024/25 after a strong performance in the Trial, presented by Race One Surf Craft. Although Clues was knocked out after the first Round, she was determined to return for the 2025/26 Shaw and Partners Iron Series and blitzed the Next Gen competition to fight her way back in. Outside of sport, Clues likes hanging out with friends and family, having fun with her teammates, and spending time at the beach.
Olivia, how old were you when youstarted surf lifesaving and why?
I was 10 years old when I first started, and the main reason like everyone was to learn how to be safe in the ocean. But I also followed in the footsteps of my older brother and Dad who was coaching at the time.
Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?
Always loved Georgia Fitzsimmons (Miller)
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
“Fall in love with the process, and the result will follow.”
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Iron Athletes?
Mistakes are how you learn, don’t fear failure as it only makes you stronger.
What do you think about on the start line?
Who is around me, and how I can use this to my advantage.
Olivia, what has been a high and low in your IronWoman journey?
High: Last season I made the Open Iron at the Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series against some tough competition.
Low: Not making any age group group finals.
Do you have any race day superstitions?
Just the same breakfast which is scrambled eggs on toast.
Do you have a secret talent?
Not really a talent, but I always win at Mario Cart.
