Bio
Hailing from the sands of Trigg Island, Western Australia, Will Savage chased his Ironman dream east to the Gold Coast, to the mighty Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park SLSC. Under the tutelage of surf sports coach Michael King, Will earned an entry to the 2023/24 Iron Series and has once again qualified for the 2024/25 Shaw and Partners Iron Series.
Will, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?
I was 6 when I started, I pretty much grew up in Trigg SLSC so have done it for as long as I can remember.
Who was your hero growing up in surf lifesaving?
Trevor Hendy for sure.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
“Stick to the plan.”
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Athletes?
Work hard!
What do you think about on the start line?
I am trying to stay calm.
Will, what has been a high and low in your IronMan journey?
High: Making the Shaw and Partners Iron Series definitely is the high so far.
Low: Not too sure about the biggest low, but there have been a few!
What do you think about during a race?
I’m focused on getting to the end.
What was your favourite subject in school?
Physics.
