Originally from Half Moon Bay SLSC in Victoria, Tex Dixon also lived in Dubai in his youth and did Nippers there for seven years. Before choosing to focus on surf sports, Tex was in the Brisbane Lions Academy playing AFL. However he made the decision to pursue surf lifesaving and see how far he could take it. It was quickly apparent he could take it very far, claiming big personal goals such as winning an Australian Board Title and making an Australian Iron final as the youngest in the field. When not training, Tex is studying Architecture at university.
Texas, which race format is your favourite?
I really like The Specialist (minus the run) as it allows me to do a board race which I love, and show my skills off in a ski and swim race prior to putting it together in an iron.
What is your best training hack?
Train hard, every session, every day.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
To just be present in the moment and not dwell on the past or worry about the future.
Do you have a secret talent?
I can pretty much name every player, from every AFL team playing in the leauge at the moment, along with some niche players from the past.
