Brayden Casamento grew up in Warrnambool, Victoria and made the move to the Sunshine Coast four years ago pursuing a lifestyle change and better opportunities to crack into the Iron Series. And crack into it he has – with an impressive showing at the Trial Round, presented by Race One Surf Craft, at Tugun, Casamento will be on the line at the 2024/25 Shaw and Partners Iron Series. He also enjoyed an excellent showing at the 2024 World Champs, claiming a 1st in the Mixed Ocean Lifesaver Relay alongside teammates, Jett Kenny, Emma Woods, and Lani Pallister. Outside of training and competing, Brayden is a full-time accountant.
Brayden, how old were you when youstarted surf lifesaving and why?
I was 7 when I joined Nippers at Warrnambool.
Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?
Stephen Kerr.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
“A little moment of pain can be a lifetime of glory.”
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Iron Athletes?
No matter where you start or grew up, with hard work and dedication you can achieve great results and goals. Don’t give up.
What do you think about during a race?
I honestly couldn’t tell you!
Lana, what has been a high and low in your IronWoman journey?
High: is definitely qualifying for my first Shaw and Partners Iron Series.
Low: Is the hard work with little results in the process.
What do you do to relax away from competition?
Movies. Cards. Board Games.
