Bio

Five-time Iron Series champion. Ten-time Coolangatta Gold champion. There is no doubting Ali Day’s incredible skill in the surf. Originally from the NSW South Coast, Day has competed and found success in just about every facet of surf sport competition. After missing the 2019/20 Elite Series due to injury, Day returned to scene with a remarkable six wins from six starts, a feat that has never before been achieved. Outside of racing, Day is the co founder of ACTV Strength Co, a strength and conditioning gym, and when he is not training or working, he loves being with his family.


Ali, how old were you when youstarted surf lifesaving and why?

8 years old. I loved the beach and my parents wanted us to get involved.

Who was your hero growing up in surf lifesaving?

Wes Berg and the Eckstein brothers.

What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?

There’s no substitute for hard work.

Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Iron Athletes?

Work hard, have fun and surround yourself with good coaches and mentors.

What do you think about on the starting line?

My family and that this is the best part of my job, this is what i work hard for, enjoy it.

Ali, what has been a high and low in your surf sports journey?

High: Qualifying for the Iron Series when I was only 19.

Low: Being injured and missing two years of the sport.

Do you have a secret talent?

I have a really good memory.

Do you have any race superstitions?

I watch a few episodes of Seinfeld.
