Bio
Gold Coast local Charlize Menefy grew up doing Nippers at Mermaid Beach SLSC before making the move to Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park SLSC. Her father was born in New Zealand, and as such, Menefy was proud to represent the Black Fins at the 2022 World Lifesaving Championships in Riccione, Italy. After stepping away from Iron racing for 18 months, the 21-year-old has returned to the discipline this season and is now set to make her debut in the Shaw and Partners Iron Series. Away from training and racing, Menefy works as a lifeguard for the City of Gold Coast while studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering.
Charlize, which race format is your favourite?
I am looking forward to the Super Sprint as it rewards consistency.
What is your race day routine?
Make sure I have a decent breakfast and Mum will usually do my hair before I head to the beach for a good warmup to get me activated and ready to go.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
Focus on yourself and do what’s best for you.
Less yapping, more action.

I can impersonate Stitch.
