Conner, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?

I moved from South Africa to Sydney at the age of eight with my family. I remember coming down to the beach and I saw little nippers running into the water to catch waves. I begged my parents to get me involved in surf sports.

Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?

A mix of Shannon Eckstein, Ky Hurst, and Ali Day.

What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?

“Back yourself, stay hard and be professional.”

Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Athletes?

I’d tell them the same thing, always back yourself, stay hard, and be professional!

What do you think about on the start line?

Get a good start, and don’t miss my craft!

Conner, what has been a high and low in your IronMan journey?

High – Making my third Iron Series in a row, and my Aussies gold medals.

Low – Getting glandular fever and having a terrible season.

Do you have any secret talents?

I can name every single Iron Series and Round winner from 2011-12 to present.

What is your go to meal the night before a carnival/race day?

Love a good steak or a butter chicken pasta.
