Wanda’s Dane Sutton joins the 2026/27 Shaw and Partners Iron Series after a successful showing at the 2026 Next Gen competition. A proud one-club competitor, Sutton has been at Wanda SLSC since he was 5 years old, and recently claimed an impressive feat at the National level – back-to-back Ironman gold medals in the U17 (2025) and U19 (2026) Australian Surf Life Saving Championships. When he is not training or competing, Sutton is studying to be a secondary teacher and is a mad Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks fan.

Consistency beats the occasional huge session. Turn up, do the work properly, recover well, and back it up again tomorrow.
What's the best part of being a surf sports athlete?
The mates you make, the places you get to race, and getting to do what you love every day.
Which race is your favourite and why?
The Specialist – I am consistent across all legs, so it suits me well.
