Henry Simpson comes into the 2024/25 Shaw and Partners Iron Series with an impressive list of accolades to his name. The young up-and-coming athlete was a member of the 2024 Australian Youth Surf Life Saving Team at the World Champs, claiming a 2nd in the Youth Oceanman, and taking out 3rd place in both the Youth Board Race and the Youth Ski. He also enjoyed a strong showing at the 2024 Aussies, claiming 2nd in the tough U19 Male Iron and the U19 Male Surf Race.
Henry, how old were you when youstarted surf lifesaving and why?
I was 10 years old when I first joined to learn surf skills.
Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?
I look up to Cooper Williams and Ali Day.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
Your advice for aspiring Shaw and Partners Iron Athletes?
Not everything is gonna go your way, keep working hard and your results will show.

High: Making the Shaw and Partners Iron Series.
Low: My Board start in the third race on the Sunday of the Trial Round, presented by Race One Surf Craft.
Do you have any secret talent?
I’m very good at maths.
