Jy Timperley’s surf lifesaving career begun at the tender age of 8 at Byron Bay SLSC. He found a love for competing, and so the man affectionately known as The Shrimp decided to become a professional ironman. Timperley had a break from the Iron Series, having last competed in 2021/22 when he finished third overall. In his spare time, Timperley works casually for the Gold Coast City Council, and loves to go fishing, surfing and camping.
Jy, how old were you when youstarted surf lifesaving and why?
8. My parents thought it be good to keep me healthy and always have a good group of friends.
What is your best training hack?
Rest and recovery something I never used to do, must be getting old.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
That my mind is my biggest obstacle I have to overcome.
Do you have a secret talent?
Can play guitar alright even tho I haven’t much lately.
