Format

The Specialist

The Specialist is four separate four to five minute races, one for each discipline of swim, board, ski and run. At the conclusion of the four separate races, the final IronMan/IronWoman race will be conducted with a staggered start commencing from the finish arch. The athlete ranked 1st after the four Specialist races will start on ‘GO’ with the remaining athletes then undertaking a handicap start in sequential order in accordance to their ranking.

Race 1 – Run. Race 2 – Swim. Race 3 – Board. Race 4 – Ski. Race 5 – Iron (Ski, Board, Swim)

Format

Survival

Survival is three separate, 12-minute long Iron races starting with 20 competitors, with the last six finishers in each race eliminated, until eight are left in the final race. There is a thrilling 3-minute countdown between each race.  

Race 1 – Swim, Ski, Board. Race 2 – Ski, Board, Swim. Race 3 – Board, Swim, Ski.

Format

Super Sprint

Super Sprint is three separate, 10-12 minute races. Equal points are allocated for races 1 and 2. At the conclusion of Race 2 all athletes will be ranked 1 to 20 based on the points awarded over both races. Race 3 will commence with a staggered start commencing from the finish arch. The athlete ranked 1st after Races 1 and 2 will start on ‘GO’ with the remaining athletes then undertaking a handicap start in sequential order in accordance to their ranking.

Race 1 – Board, Swim, Ski. Race 2 – Swim, Ski, Board. Race 3 – Ski, Board, Swim.


COVID Safe Event Plan

Surf Life Saving Australia has been working closely with NSW Health and QLD Health to ensure the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series is a COVID Safe Event that does not put athletes, officials, staff or the local community at a higher risk of infection. SLSA will be increasing preventive measures for everyone on-site, such as providing face masks, hand sanitisation stations and employing a cleaning contractor specifically equipped to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

Due to current COVID-19 measures, the Nutri-Grain Series will be a spectator-less event until further notice.
