Newport’s Conner Maggs has been announced as the replacement athlete for Jy Timperly in the opening rounds of the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series this weekend.

Timperly ruled himself out of the opening two rounds due to an ankle injury, which has paved the way for Maggs’ entry into the series.

Originally from South Africa, Maggs will be competing at the beach where his surf life saving career began as an eight-year-old with the Manly LSC Nippers.

In October, Maggs won the Shaw and Partners Financial Services Coolangatta Gold Short Course and will now put his foot on the line at Manly this weekend. This will be Maggs’ first time competing in the Nutri-Grain IronMan Series.

The 2022/23 Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series will be broadcast LIVE on SBS and Fox Sports.
