Bio
Growing up away from the beach, Meehan joined nippers in the U9s and is now a member of Northcliffe SLSC and ready to burst onto the elite Iron circuit. She earned her spot in the 2023/24 Nutri-Grain Series with an impressive performance in the Next Gen competition. She graduated high school last year, and is currently studying a bachelors of Biomedical Science at Bond University with the hopes of pursuing a career in Medicine.
Ruby, how old were you when you started surf lifesaving and why?
I didn’t grow up near the beach at all and when I moved to the Gold Coast, I wasn’t a massive fan of the ocean, but I started nippers for safety reasons etc in U9s and slowly fell in love with it.
Who was your hero growing up in and out of surf lifesaving?
Courtney Hancock.
What is the best piece of advice that you have ever been given?
Consistency is key.
Your advice for aspiring Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain athletes?
Make sure you have balance in life – its healthy and it allows you to enjoy and appreciate the sport/training.
What is your favourite beach to compete at?
North Bondi.
