Northcliffe’s Auden Parish and Sunshine Beach’s Grace Otto have captured the ultimate prize, a ticket into 2022/23 Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series following three days of racing at Kurrawa Beach on the Gold Coast.

Parish, 18, and Otto, 17, were the most consistent performers over the three days of iron racing and claimed the Nutri-Gen Next-Gen Series victories on a count-back from Noah Steiner (Wanda) and Dominique Stitt (Maroochydore) respectively.

“I am on top of the world right now, it means so much to me,” said Parish who finished second in today’s final race.

“The points were so close heading into the race today and I knew that every wave and every point would count so I just had to stay focused.

“I have trained so hard this year; I have come back from injury and sacrificed a lot to be here, and I am just so happy and excited. I can’t believe it to be honest, to get the chance to race with and against some of my idols next season is just unbelievable,” added Parish.

Otto was equally as excited at the chance to race in the open age group and Nutri-Grain Iron Series next season.

“I am over the moon, and it is pretty hard to believe right now,” said Otto who finished fourth in today’s final race.

“It was really challenging out there today in those conditions, I thought I nearly lost it on the ski, but I just had to keep fighting for every position as I knew that the points were really close heading into today’s final race.

“Josh Minogue (former Nutri-Grain IronMan) has been my coach for the last five years and he has helped me so much to get to this point, so I am really happy and grateful to have won the Next Gen Series and to get the chance to race in the Iron Series next year”.

Racing conditions were certainly tricky with a strong south easterly six-foot swell, incoming tide and strong sweep to the north.  Northcliffe’s Sean Rielly (Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park) and Ruby Meehan (Northcliffe) made the best of the conditions to claim victory in the third and final race of the Series, which saw them finish 11th and 4th overall in the three-race Nutri-Grain Next Gen Series.
