More than 130 athletes will line up for the qualifying round of the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series this weekend 12-13 November at Tugun SLSC on the Gold Coast.

Athletes will battle it out for the 14 remaining spots on offer (seven men and seven women) as part of the six-round series.

There’s no shortage of talent on offer with nine males and eight females returning from the 2021/22 Series to earn their place in 2022/23 but with limited spots on offer, the racing will be make or break for these athletes.

Headlining those seeking qualification are Lizzie Welborn (Newport), Naomi Scott (Northcliffe), Coolangatta Gold Short Course Champion Lucy Derbyshire (Surfers Paradise) and Coolangatta Gold Long Course Champion Carla Papac (Noosa Heads).

In the men’s competition, TJ Hendy (Surfers Paradise), Cooper Williams (Alexandra Headland), Max Beattie (Surfers Paradise) and Cory Taylor (Northcliffe) are last year’s Series competitors who need to race well in order to requalify this weekend.

After three rounds on Saturday, the top 20 male and 20 female athletes will advance through to Sunday’s finals.

On Sunday, the top ranked seven male and seven female athletes will qualify for their spot in the Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series.

After this weekend’s competition there will still be four spots on offer as “Wild Card” qualifiers, two male and two female.
