Australian ironwoman champion, Georgia Miller, has ruled herself out of the opening rounds of the Nutri-Grain IronWoman Series following medical advice.

Miller, who had recently recovered from the flu as well as COVID-19, was feeling unwell following her racing on the weekend at the Summer of Surf rounds at North Bondi.

Upon advice of her doctors, she was told not to race this weekend.

“I’m naturally very devastated to have to withdraw this weekend, but when it comes to your health, you need to follow the advice of doctors,” said former Nutri-Grain IronWoman Series Champion, Georgia Miller.

“I had experienced some difficulty breathing following my competition on the weekend and thought it best I get checked out by my GP.  After speaking with doctors and specialists, they advised me that I needed more time to rest my body as I have an issue with inflammation around my heart.

“I have been working hard to put my best foot forward for the 2022 Nutri-Grain IronWoman Series, but I don’t want to jeopardise my long term health.

“Hopefully with the benefit of time, I will be recovered in time to compete in rounds 4-6 on the Gold Coast in February.

“Thanks to all my supporters and family and I want to wish all my fellow competitors the best of luck this weekend,” said Miller.

Miller’s replacement for the 2022 Nutri-Grain IronWoman Series will be announced tomorrow.
