Almost 200 IronMen and IronWoman set foot on the sand on the Gold Coast, QLD on Saturday for the chance to qualify for the 2023/24 Nutri-Grain IronMan and IronWoman Series.

With 108 males and 69 females all fighting for a spot in the Nutri-Grain Series this summer, this weekend’s Trial, officially the largest in the history of the event.

There were 24 races (14 male and ten female) across three different ironperson disciplines – short traditional, traditional and M-shape.

Ten males with previous experience in the Nutri-Grain IronMan Series competition including today’s point score leader Jackson Borg (Newport), Kendrick Louis (Manly), Tanyn Lyndon (Kurrawa), Ky Kinsela (Tugun) and Auden Parish (Northcliffe) have all made the list for tomorrow’s final qualifying round.

Whilst in the female event, 15 females with previous experience have made the top 20 including former Nutri-Grain Iron Series Champion, Harriet Brown (Northcliffe), current Australian Ironwoman champion, Naomi Scott (Northcliffe), New Zealand Ironwoman Olivia Corrin (Northcliffe) and Alexandra Headland duo Emma Woods and Tayla Halliday.

Young guns Noah Steiner (Wanda), Conner Maggs (Newport), Brayden Casamento (Alexandra Headland), Pipi Te Pania (Newport), Jasmine Rayward (Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park) and Analise Kibble (Newport) all showed their talent in the open category and will have some of their more experienced rivals nervous ahead of tomorrow’s final opportunity to qualify.

Jackson Borg (Newport), Noah Steiner (Wanda) and Will Savage (Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park) are the top three males with Electra Outram (Sunshine Beach), Harriet Brown (Northcliffe) and Emma Woods (Alexandra Headland) the top three females heading into tomorrow’s final qualification.

Sunday’s races will replicate today’s, with the 20 males and females competing across the same three races – short ironperson, traditional ironperson and M-Shape with the top seven on cumulative point scores across Sunday’s races, qualifying for the 2023/2024 Nutri-Grain IronMan / IronWoman Series, taking the fields to 17.

Nutri-Grain Next Gen winners Mitch Morris (Northcliffe) and Ruby Meehan (Northcliffe) have already earned their place in the Nutri-Grain Series, with the final two places to complete the 20 competitor fields, going to “Wild Card” selections.
